Types of FeSi
 
 

FeSi, also known as ferrosilicon, is a widely used alloy. It's made primarily of iron and silicon. The silicon content usually ranges from 15% to 90%. When the silicon level increases, the alloy becomes a better material for reducing the weight of steel. It also makes steel more newtonically resistant.

Ferrosilicon is available in different grades and types. They include:

 

Ferrosilicon 75%

This is one of the most popular types of ferrosilicon alloy. It contains 75% silicon and 25% iron. It's mostly used to produce steel with a high level of silicon content.

 
 

Ferrosilicon 15%

This type contains only 15% silicon and 85% iron. It's widely used as a deoxidizer in steel manufacturing.

Metallurgical
In the metallurgical industry, it is mainly used for steelmaking deoxidation, improving the quality of steel and reducing the loss of chromium oxide. It can also be used as a fuel to reduce energy costs.

 

Steelmaking
It is used as a deoxidizer and alloying agent in the steelmaking industry. In order to obtain steel with qualified chemical composition and ensure the quality of steel, deoxidation must be carried out in the final stage of steelmaking. The chemical affinity between silicon and oxygen is very large, so ferrosilicon is a strong deoxidizer for steelmaking for precipitation and diffusion deoxidation.
