Usage of High Carbon Silicon

Promote graphite lattication: In casting, high-carbon silicon can promote the formation of graphite lattication and spheroidal ink, improve casting quality, and reduce the occurrence of hot metal plug.
Slag collection: High-carbon silicon has the advantage of slag collection, which can make the oxide in the steelmaking process quickly clump, easy to filter, make the molten steel more pure, and greatly improve the density and hardness of steel.
Dephosphorization: In converter smelting, the role of high-carbon silicon also includes dephosphorization, decarburization and heating, which is conducive to improving the dephosphorization capacity of later slag and reducing the probability of phosphorus return.
Process of HC-Si Alloy
Silicon Carbon Alloy is typically produced by the following process:
Raw Materials: Quartz (SiO₂) and coke or coal are used as primary raw materials.
Smelting Process: The alloy is smelted at high temperatures (around 1600–2000°C) in submerged arc furnaces, where silicon oxide reacts with carbon sources to form silicon carbide (SiC). SiO2+3C→SiC+2CO.
Product Forms: The final product is usually in granular, lump, or powder form, making it easy to transport and use.
