Description

Stainless Steel 316L Powder

Austenitic stainless steel powder optimized for additive manufacturing, metal injection molding (MIM), and powder metallurgy. Produced via vacuum induction melting inert gas atomization (VIGA), our powder offers high sphericity, excellent corrosion resistance, and consistent batch-to-batch flowability. Each production lot is supplied with a certified Material Test Report (MTR).

Key Features

High Sphericity: Gas-atomized morphology (>95% sphericity) ensures smooth powder spreading and optimal packing density in laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) systems.

Corrosion Resistance: Balanced chromium, nickel, and molybdenum chemistry provides strong resistance to pitting and chloride-induced corrosion in marine and chemical environments.

Controlled PSD: Particle size distributions tailored for specific layer thicknesses and printing platforms (e.g., 15-45 um and 45-105 um).

Low Satellite Content: Minimized satellite formation reduces porosity in as-sintered or as-printed components.

Documentation

Each shipment includes:

Material Test Report (MTR)

Batch-specific chemical assay and laser diffraction particle size distribution curves.

Certificate of Conformance (CoC)

Verifying compliance with ASTM standards.

Safety Data Sheet (SDS)

Hazard identification, storage, and handling guidelines.

FAQ

Q: How is powder moisture prevented during transit?

A: Powders are hermetically sealed under an inert argon blanket inside heavy-duty, UN-rated steel drums to eliminate atmospheric exposure.

Q: Can custom particle size distributions be ordered for older printer models?

A: Yes. Multi-stage air classifiers allow custom narrow PSD cuts to match specific OEM laser and layer thickness parameters.

Q: Are lot-specific test reports supplied with every order?

A: Yes. The physical MTR is shipped directly with the product drums and provided digitally upon dispatch.
