Fe-Cr Alloy - Overview

 

 

Fe-Cr Alloy chrome is an alloy of chromium and iron, which is made by smelting chromium ore and coke/silica by electric furnace or blast furnace. The carbon content of the electric furnace product is controllable and the purity is high (Cr≥50%), which is suitable for the production of stainless steel and tool steel; the blast furnace product has low cost but high carbon content (C≥6%), and is mostly used in the foundry industry.

High Carbon Ferro Chrome
High carbon ferro chrome is an iron alloy with chromium and iron as the main components and a high carbon content. It is usually silver-grey in block or granular form, hard in texture, and has excellent high temperature resistance and oxidation resistance. As the core raw material for stainless steel production, high carbon ferro chrome can significantly improve the hardness, corrosion resistance and high temperature strength of steel. It is especially suitable for manufacturing high-end industrial products such as chemical equipment, knives, wear-resistant parts and nuclear power facilities. Low Carbon Ferro Chrome

The carbon content is usually less than 0.1%.It is mostly irregular in shape or granular, with a silver-gray to dark-gray metallic luster on the surface, a hard texture and a crystalline structure in cross section.

 

Uses of Ferro Chrome

 

In the steel production field, one of the main ferro chrome uses is in the manufacturing of stainless steel, heat-resistant steel, and tool steel.When added to steel during the smelting process, ferro chrome can significantly improve the corrosion resistance and hardenability of the steel, endowing it with more outstanding performance.
