Ferro Chrome

Ferro chrome is an alloy of chromium and iron, which is made by smelting chromium ore and coke/silica by electric furnace or blast furnace. The carbon content of the electric furnace product is controllable and the purity is high (Cr≥50%), which is suitable for the production of stainless steel and tool steel; the blast furnace product has low cost but high carbon content (C≥6%), and is mostly used in the foundry industry. The appearance of ferro chrome is silver-gray to dark gray block or granular, and the cross section is crystalline. Ferro chrome is resistant to high-temperature oxidation and can effectively deoxidize and desulfurize in molten steel. Ferro chrome is widely used in many industries such as steel, machinery manufacturing, automobile industry, aerospace, etc., and is a key basic raw material for the production of special steel and alloy materials.
In the metallurgical industry, ferro chrome is used in stainless steel production to improve corrosion resistance and strength. Ferro chrome is used as an additive for tool steel and bearing steel to improve wear resistance and hardenability. In the chemical industry, ferro chrome can be used to produce chromium salts and catalysts.
