Pure Manganese Metal, especially in the form of Electrolytic Manganese Flakes with 99.7%–99.9%+ purity, is preferred over Ferromanganese when steelmakers and alloy producers require extremely tight control over chemical composition and minimal introduction of unwanted elements.
Unlike Ferromanganese, which inevitably brings extra carbon, phosphorus, silicon, and other impurities, pure Manganese Metal allows for precise manganese addition without affecting the final carbon content or increasing harmful residuals. This makes it particularly valuable in the production of high-grade stainless steels, specialty alloys, low-carbon steels, and lithium-ion battery cathode materials (such as NCM, NCA, and LMO), where even trace impurities can significantly impact corrosion resistance, mechanical performance, or electrochemical stability.
In addition, pure Manganese Metal offers higher recovery rates and lower burn-off during addition, resulting in more accurate and cost-effective alloying for premium applications that demand the highest purity and performance standards.
