FeSiMg Nodulant

Ferro Silicon Magnesium is an alloy composed mainly of ferrosilicon, magnesium, calcium, and rare earth elements. It is an important additive used to transform flake graphite in cast iron into spherical graphite. This process improves the strength, toughness, and wear resistance of castings, making them suitable for replacing certain types of steel.
Due to the high activity of magnesium, the alloy reacts intensely at elevated temperatures, so special techniques such as wire feeding or flushing are required to minimize burning and evaporation losses. The sulfur content in molten iron must be kept below 0.06%, as excessive sulfur will consume magnesium and cause spheroidization failure. After nodularization, additional inoculants like ferrosilicon are often used to prevent white cast iron structures and ensure uniform graphite distribution.
Ferro Silicon Magnesium is mainly applied in producing ductile iron for automotive, machinery, and engineering equipment industries. It is used to manufacture components such as crankshafts, camshafts, gears, valves, and pump bodies that require high strength and impact resistance. Spheroidizing treatment also improves casting quality by reducing internal defects like pores and slag inclusions, enhancing machinability, and lowering production costs.
