Silicon Metal

Silicon metal, also known as industrial silicon, is a product smelted from silica and carbonaceous reducing agents in an ore-fired furnace. Silicon, the main component of metallic silicon, is usually above 98.5% and below 99.99%, and the remaining impurities are iron, aluminum, calcium, etc. In China, silicon metal is usually divided into different grades such as 553, 441, 421, 3303, 2202, and 1101 according to the content of iron, aluminum, and calcium in metallic silicon. It is reduced from quartz and coke in an ore-fired furnace and has a high melting point (1414°C) and good physical and chemical properties.

The crystal structure of silicon metal has a highly regular and orderly arrangement, and this unique structure gives silicon metal extremely excellent physical properties. It is used as an alloy additive in metallurgy and casting to improve the strength and wear resistance of the alloy; in silicone chemicals, it is the basic raw material for the production of silicone oil, silicone rubber and other materials. Good electrical conductivity and excellent thermal conductivity enable metallic silicon to operate stably in extreme environments such as high temperature, providing reliable protection for various high-end industrial applications.
