Silicon Metal Powder

Silicon powder (also known as industrial silicon powder) is a silver-gray metallic-looking powder material with a high melting point (approximately 1414°C), excellent thermal resistance and oxidation resistance, as well as a high resistivity. It is hailed as the "industrial seasoning" and is widely used as a basic industrial raw material in various industries. Based on its physical and chemical properties, the main applicable environments (including application fields, environmental conditions and precautions) are summarized below. These applicable environments mainly consider its stability in high temperatures, corrosion resistance and chemical reactions.

 

Environmental Adaptability and Precautions

 

Temperature environment: Best suited for high-temperature conditions (500 - 1500°C). Its high melting point makes it less prone to deformation or oxidation during smelting and sintering. However, it may require a protective atmosphere at ultra-high temperatures (> 2000°C).


Chemical environment: Resistant to acid and alkali corrosion, suitable for reducing or neutral media; avoid strong oxidants (such as concentrated nitric acid) to prevent slow oxidation.


Physical environment: In powder form, it is prone to dusting, suitable for industrial workshops with good ventilation; during storage, it needs to be dried and sealed to avoid moisture-induced agglomeration.


Limitations: Not suitable for low-temperature flammable environments (although it is not flammable, dust can explode); high-purity products are more suitable for precision electronic fields.
