Ferro Phosphorus

Ferro phosphorus is an alloy mainly composed of iron and phosphorus, containing a small amount of silicon, carbon and other elements. It is made by reducing phosphate ore and scrap steel in an electric furnace. Ferro phosphorus is gray-black or gray-brown, with high hardness and great brittleness. Its low melting point characteristic can accelerate the deoxidation reaction of molten steel and simultaneously achieve precise addition of phosphorus elements, which is used to improve the hardness and corrosion resistance of wear-resistant steel and weathering steel. It improves the fluidity of molten iron and reduces shrinkage defects in casting. It has the advantages of low cost and controllable composition. It is a core additive for the production of special steel and cast iron parts. Gray cast iron contains 0.5% phosphorus, which can improve its tensile strength. Wear-resistant cast iron contains about 0.15% phosphorus, which can significantly improve its wear resistance. Ferro phosphorus can be used as a building aggregate for the production of high-density concrete for radiation shielding, as a substitute for commonly used steel punches and steel shots.
